If that spanner symbol has come up on your dashboard then it’s time your car was due a service. The symbol is just a periodic reminder, it doesn’t actually come up to denote a fault – the ‘check engine’ symbol does that.
If you service the car yourself and want to reset it or your garage has forgotten to reset it, you can do it yourself quite easily with the following simple steps:
This will work with the following models:
Peugeot 106 (1999 on)
Peugeot 206 (1998 on)
Peugeot 306 (1996 on)
Peugeot 307 (1996 on)
Peugeot 406 (1998 on)
Peugeot 607 (2000 on)
Peugeot 806 (1999 on)
Peugeot Expert (1999 on)
Peugeot 807 (2002 on)
Peugeot Partner (1999 on)
Peugeot Boxer (2002 on)
Procedure to Reset Peugeot Service Light as follows:
1. Switch the Ignition Off
2. Press and hold the tripmeter (mileage reset) button on the dash
3. Now switch the ignition to the ON position
4. Keep the button pressed for 10 seconds
5. The display will read ‘0’ and the service symbol will extinguish. Job done.
1. To reset MAINT reminder light after engine oil replacement, turn ignition switch to OFF position with odometer showing ODOMETER READING. Turn ignition switch to ON position while holding down trip meter RESET button.
2. Hold trip meter RESET button down for at least 5 seconds until odometer indicates “000000” and MAINT reminder light goes out.
Put the key into the ignition and turn it to position “I.”
Press the trip odometer button in and hold it. Turn the ignition key to position “II.”
Wait about 5 seconds until the service engine light begins to blink. After the 4th blink, turn the ignition key back to position “I.”
Release the button and start the engine. The light should have turned off. If not, repeat steps 1 through 4 again.
If the service is due on these vehicles, when the key is turned to position 2, one of the dashboard displays will show “Service INSP”, “INSP1” or “INSP2” for Fixed interval services, and “SERVICE OEL / OIL” for the Oil Service interval.
The oil service reset procedure is as follows:
Start with the ignition turned OFF
Press and hold the button on the right side of the display while turning the ignition on (position 2)
“Service OEL / OIL” should be displayed
Release the button on the right
Pull out the button on the left side of the display until the service prompt is cleared
The display should now read —
Release the button on the left
…then to access and reset the service information:
Push the button on the right briefly
“Service INSP” should show on the dash
Pull out the button on the left side of the display until the service prompt is cleared
The display should now read —
Release the button on the left
Turn off the ignition
