2008-2010
The “—” display can be reset while the ignition switch is “OFF”. When the display is reset, the time until the next periodic inspection is displayed and “PERIODIC INSPECTION” is no longer displayed when the ignition is switched from “OFF” to “ON”.
Lightly press the multi-information meter switch until the information screen switches to service reminder display screen.
Press and hold the multi-information meter switch for about 2 seconds or more to display the (wrench icon) and make it flash.
Lightly press the multi-information meter switch while the icon is flashing to change the display from “—” to “CLEAR”. After this, the time until the next periodic inspection will be displayed.
Start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

1982-1985
After completing the oil change, the maintenance lamp may be reset by inserting the ignition key into the appropriate slot on the instrument panel below the indicator lamp. The indicator will change to green.
1986-1991
Insert ignition key into slot below indicator flag at lower right corner of instrument cluster.
Push key in until indicator changes from red to green.
1992-1996
Insert ignition key into centre slot located on the front of the instrument cluster. When reset, the indicator changes to green.
1997-1999
With Reset Button on Instrument Panel:
Turn the ignition off.
Press the select switch and reset switch at the same time, turn the ignition switch to run (one position before starting).
Hold them for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
With Key Slot on Instrument Panel:
Reset the indicator by inserting the key in the slot and changing the indicator to green.
2000-2005
Turn off the engine.
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button in the instrument panel. and turn the ignition switch ON (ii).
Hold the button for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
2006-2010
Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Press the SELECT/RESET knob until the engine oil life indicator is displayed.
Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 10 seconds. The engine oil life indicator and the maintenance code(s) will blink.
Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 5 seconds. The maintenance items code(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
Service oil reset Chevrolet Cobalt
2005-2010
Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Press the INFORMATION and RESET buttons on the DIC at the same time to enter the personalization menu.
Press the INFORMATION button to scroll through the menu until OIL LIFE RESET is displayed.
Press and hold the RESET button until the DIC display shows ACKNOWLEDGED. This will tell you the system has been reset.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
