Oil service reset Mercury Mountaineer

1999-2001

Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
press and hold the OIL CHANGE RESET control for 5 seconds. The message centre will count down for 5 seconds and the message centre will display “OIL LIFE RESET TO 100%”.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

2002-2003

Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Press the SETUP control to access the System Check function.
Press and release the RESET control to display “OIL LIFE XX% HOLD RESET NEW”.
Press and hold the RESET control for 2 seconds to display “IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET”.
Press and hold the RESET control to display “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%”. Your oil life is now reset.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

2004-2005

Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Select this function from the SETUP control “PRESS RESET AT OIL CHANGE”.
Press RESET control to reset oil change.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

2006-2007

Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Enter SYSTEM CHECK to display “OIL XXX% OIL LIFE OK”.
Press RESET button to display “HOLD RESET IF NEW OIL”.
Press and hold the RESET button for more than two seconds. Oil life is set to 100% and “OIL CHANGE SET TO 100%” is displayed.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

2008-2010

Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Press SETUP to display OIL LIFE %.
Press RESET button to display “HOLD RESET IF NEW OIL”.
Press and hold the RESET button for more than two seconds. Oil life is set to 100% and “OIL CHANGE SET TO 100%” is displayed.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

2009-2010
Push the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start the engine). Use the ENTER switch and toggle the vehicle information display to show the SETTING screen. Use the NEXT switch to select
Use the NEXT switch to select MAINTENANCE, then confirm with ENTER switch to change to the oil maintenance menu (follow the insructions).
i) SETTING > MAINTENANCE > OIL > ENGINE OIL to set or reset the mileage for the engine oil change.
ii) SETTING > MAINTENANCE > FILTER > to set or reset the mileage for the engine oil filter.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

1982-1985
After completing the oil change, the maintenance lamp may be reset by inserting the ignition key into the appropriate slot on the instrument panel below the indicator lamp. The indicator will change to green.
1986-1991
Insert ignition key into slot below indicator flag at lower right corner of instrument cluster.
Push key in until indicator changes from red to green.
1992-1996
Insert ignition key into centre slot located on the front of the instrument cluster. When reset, the indicator changes to green.
1997-1999
With Reset Button on Instrument Panel:
Turn the ignition off.
Press the select switch and reset switch at the same time, turn the ignition switch to run (one position before starting).
Hold them for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
With Key Slot on Instrument Panel:
Reset the indicator by inserting the key in the slot and changing the indicator to green.
2000-2005
Turn off the engine.
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button in the instrument panel. and turn the ignition switch ON (ii).
Hold the button for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
2006-2010
Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Press the SELECT/RESET knob until the engine oil life indicator is displayed.
Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 10 seconds. The engine oil life indicator and the maintenance code(s) will blink.
Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 5 seconds. The maintenance items code(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
