Instructions
1. Pull the vehicle over to a safe area, if the light comes on while driving. If you are very close to a store that sells motor oil, stop there. Do not continue driving with the indicator light lit, as severe engine damage may occur.
2. Turn off the vehicle’s engine and open the hood. Locate the oil filler cap and oil dipstick on the top-front of the engine.
3. Check the engine oil level on the oil dipstick. If the engine oil is low, remove the oil cap and add oil until the oil level on the oil dipstick reaches the “Full” mark.
4. Replace the oil cap and restart the Kia. The oil light should turn off within a few seconds of starting the vehicle.
Turn key switch ON or when start engine, the instrument panel will display “OIL Service” or“INSPECTION” and left distance for several seconds. If “Service” or“ INSPECTION” are lit all the time and the left distance is next to “0”? it indicates that it needs oil service reset.
Reset by manual :
1. Press RESET button in the left of instrument panel.
2. Turn key ON and to ACC position.
3. Waiting for the instrument displays “OIL Service” or “INSPECTION” is flashed.
4 Release RESET button, then press five seconds, the screen will display RESR or RE is flashed. Release RESET button again and press again till the screen displays “25000km”. Now reset is completed.
When you find there is “-“symbol in front of the left distance number in the screen, and you can’t do reset with the above method, now you can use X-431 to reset oil service.
1982-1989
Insert ignition key into slot below indicator flag at lower right corner of instrument cluster.
Push key in until indicator changes from red to green.
1990-1999
Insert ignition key into centre slot located on the front of the instrument cluster. When reset, the indicator changes to green.
2000-2002
Reset the coloured indicator by inserting your key in the slot beside the indicator.
1997-1999
Insert ignition key into centre slot located on the front of the instrument cluster. When reset, the indicator changes to green.
2000-2001
Reset the coloured indicator by inserting your key in the slot beside the indicator.
2002-2006
Turn off the engine.
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button in the instrument panel and turn the ignition switch to run (one position before starting).
Hold the button for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
2007-2010
Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Press the SELECT/RESET knob repeatedly until the engine oil life is displayed.
Press the SELECT/RESET knob for about 10 seconds. The information display shows the reset mode initial display.
Select the ëëOIL LIFEíí indicator by turning the SELECT/RESET knob. The display begins to blink. Push the same knob to enter this setting.
The engine oil life and the maintenance item code(s) will begin to blink. Press the SELECT/ reset knob for another 5 seconds.
The maintenance item code(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
1982-1985
After completing the oil change, the maintenance lamp may be reset by inserting the ignition key into the appropriate slot on the instrument panel below the indicator lamp. The indicator will change to green.
1986-1991
Insert ignition key into slot below indicator flag at lower right corner of instrument cluster.
Push key in until indicator changes from red to green.
1992-1996
Insert ignition key into centre slot located on the front of the instrument cluster. When reset, the indicator changes to green.
1997-1999
With Reset Button on Instrument Panel:
Turn the ignition off.
Press the select switch and reset switch at the same time, turn the ignition switch to run (one position before starting).
Hold them for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
With Key Slot on Instrument Panel:
Reset the indicator by inserting the key in the slot and changing the indicator to green.
2000-2005
Turn off the engine.
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button in the instrument panel. and turn the ignition switch ON (ii).
Hold the button for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
2006-2010
Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Press the SELECT/RESET knob until the engine oil life indicator is displayed.
Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 10 seconds. The engine oil life indicator and the maintenance code(s) will blink.
Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 5 seconds. The maintenance items code(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
